Prices
How much does rafting in Bali cost?
Ayung River rafting starts from IDR 300,000 per person and Telaga Waja rafting from IDR 300,000 per person, both in a shared raft meeting at the operator's start point. River tubing starts from IDR 215,000 per person. Packages with a hotel transfer cost more per person, and a private raft has one price for the whole raft. Every package shows its price on the trip page before you book.
Planning
Should I raft the Ayung or the Telaga Waja?
The Ayung near Ubud is the gentler river: Grade II–III, about 1.5–2 hours on the water. The Telaga Waja in Karangasem is longer and wilder: Grade III–IV, about 2–2.5 hours on the water, with a dam drop of about 4 m. For a first trip, the Ayung is the gentler choice; if you want more action, choose the Telaga Waja. Our Ayung vs Telaga Waja page shows both side by side.
What is the difference between rafting and river tubing?
Rafting: you sit in an inflatable raft with other guests and paddle as a team while a river guide steers. River tubing: each person rides their own inflatable tube, with no paddling. Our tubing trip is Grade II with about 1–1.5 hours on the water — the gentlest trip we sell.
When is the best time of year for rafting in Bali?
Bali has a wet season and a dry season. In the wet season rain can raise the rivers quickly: the rapids get bigger, and on some days a river is closed for high water. In the dry season the water is usually lower and the ride calmer. Whatever the season, the river is checked before trips run, and if it is closed for high water you choose a new date or a full refund.
What time do the trips start?
The trips start at 09:00, 10:00, 11:00, 12:00 and 13:00; each trip page shows its own start times. With a hotel transfer, the pickup time depends on where you stay and is confirmed before your trip.
What should I wear and bring?
Clothes that can get wet with swimwear underneath, sandals with a back strap or water shoes, sunscreen, and dry clothes and a towel for afterwards. Leave valuables at your hotel. The operator gives you a helmet and a life jacket.
Safety
Do I need to be able to swim?
Everyone wears a life jacket and a helmet on the water, and a river guide is in every raft. Whether non-swimmers can join depends on the river and the operator, so please ask us on WhatsApp before you book — especially for the Telaga Waja.
Is there a minimum age or a weight limit?
Each operator sets its own limits for its river. Where a trip has a minimum age or a weight limit, it is shown in the river facts on the trip page, and the minimum age is also checked at checkout. Travelling with children? Ask us before you book.
Is rafting in Bali safe?
No outdoor activity is free of risk, but every trip follows the same basics: a safety briefing before you start, a helmet and a life jacket for everyone, and a river guide in every raft. The operator checks the river and closes it when the water is too high. Tell us before booking about pregnancy, injuries or health conditions.
Booking
How do I book and pay?
Choose a trip, a package, the date, the start time and the number of guests on the trip page, then check out. At checkout you enter the age of every guest and confirm a short health declaration. Depending on the payment option you choose, you pay the full price or a 20% deposit online; any amount still to pay is shown on your e-voucher. Your places are held for 15 minutes while you pay.
Can I cancel or change my booking?
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure; after that, or for a no-show, no refund. If the operator closes the river because of high water, you choose a new date or a full refund. To change your date, message us on WhatsApp with your booking reference; a new date depends on availability.
How far ahead do I need to book?
Online booking closes 12 hours before the start time. For a later booking, message us on WhatsApp and we will check with the operator.
Is a hotel transfer included?
Only in the packages with hotel transfer (Ayung River Rafting: at least 2 guests; Bali River Tubing: at least 2 guests). At checkout you choose the area you are staying in, and the pickup time is confirmed before your trip. All other packages meet at the operator's start point.
Who runs the trips?
Rafting in Bali is the booking website of Family Trips Bali, a booking agent. The trips are run by local rafting operators on each river. You book and pay with us, and we stay your contact before and after the trip.
